Understanding the Basics of Fire Extinguisher Usage

Fire extinguishers are essential safety tools, but knowing how to use them correctly can make all the difference in an emergency.

The PASS technique—Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep—is the safest and most effective way to extinguish a fire.

First, Pull the pin to unlock the extinguisher, then Aim at the base of the flames. Next, Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent and Sweep side to side until the fire is completely out.

Choosing the right fire extinguisher type, such as ABC, CO₂, or foam, is crucial for different fire classes.

Regular fire extinguisher maintenance, proper fire safety training, and quick action can prevent small fires from turning into major disasters.
